My first post! Funfetti Gooey Cake Bars

So I’ve had some people asking me for a bunch of my recipes so I thought I’d just get them all organized here! Still trying to figure out how this website works so bear with me! 🙂 Starting with something sweet, this is a great hit at parties or, as I used it, as a “thank you for letting me crash here!” gift. I found a basic recipe on Pinterest and tweaked it to how I liked it better. I am listing the original recipe with sidenotes about how I preferred it.

Funfetti Gooey Cake Bars- originally from Crazy for Crust

Ingredients!

1 yellow cake mix *I also tried it once with 1 box of vanilla cake and it was also tasty!
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, softened *NOT melted!
1 egg
2/3 cup sprinkles, divided *also have a handful of extra sprinkles on hand
1/2 cup (from a 14 ounce can) sweetened condensed milk
1 cup white chocolate chips

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 9×9” pan with foil and spray liberally with cooking spray.
*I used a 7×11″ pan and this is a better shape if you want to do longer Twix-shaped bars.
2. Add cake mix, butter, and egg to the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Mix until a thick dough forms. Add 1/2 cup sprinkles and stir until incorporated.
*I just mixed the first three ingredients in a bowl and then kneaded it with my glove covered hands
and it worked fine.
3. Press about 2/3 of the dough into the bottom of the prepared pan. Sprinkle with 3/4 cup white chocolate chips and remaining 1/2 cup sprinkles. Pour sweetened condensed milk over the top. Separate remaining dough into small balls and evenly space over the top of the bars. Press down to flatten.
*Make sure the dough is evenly spread at the bottom as you do not want the sweetened condensed milk to leak to the foil. I also found the original amount of sweetened milk to be too sweet for me, but it is a personal preference how sweet you like it. I use just enough to cover the dough.
3.5. This is my additional step! Throw the rest of the white chocolate chips and some extra sprinkles on top, it gives the bars a little extra something!
4. Bake bars for about 30 minutes, or until they just begin to brown. Cool completely before slicing, otherwise the mixture will be too gooey to cut. Optional: eat straight from pan with a fork.

And enjoy! Yummy in your tummy!
